[ Well, that's a 'yes' if he's ever seen one. He grins, letting her see the not-very-nice smirk he has when he's hunting sometimes. ]

All right. First things first, we've gotta track one down. I know where they tend to hang out, so we can start there. D'ya know what we'll be looking for?

[ He turns to head towards the forest, hoping she'll follow him with not much prompting. She seems pretty excited. ]

Big.

[She says confidently, dropping down to all fours and happily hopping along. A big pig had been how he'd described it to her, but guess who has no idea what a pig is?]

[ He nods. ]

Yep, definitely big. But we have to be able to track it before we see it, even with how big it is. So once we get there, keep an eye for hoofprints like...this.

[ He points for a moment at a soft patch of dirt, slowing down to do so. With a hand out in sort of a claw, he pushes it down, and a boar track appears, complete with smaller 'dots' on the sides. ]

[Ooh, cool. Lilly studies the print hard, then shows that she understands by copying his gesture, making another, smaller print next to his.]

We'll eat it?

[She clarifies, looking back up at him.]

[ The secondary hoof print makes Gabriel smile. She's clearly paying attention. ]

Yeah, we're definitely gonna eat it. But first we've got to track it down, kill it, and take it apart so we can reach the eat-able parts.

[ And then he'll cook it, but he'll cross that bridge when they come to it.

He starts walking again. The animals here are always that much easier to find, due to the fact that they're hardly camouflaged with their pastel coloring. And he'll make it a little easier for Lilly still. He wants her first experience with something this large to be a good one. ]

How d'you think we'll kill it?

[ Planning ahead is important, of course. ]

[That is a good question, and one she has to think about for a moment.]

Hit it.

[She says finally, though the doubt in her voice is obvious. It's big, after all; maybe it's too big to hit. Her second guess is probably a little more reasonable.]

Knife?

[termineur]

[ He can see her thought process running through the problem with just hitting it, and nods at her final conclusion. ]

A knife, yeah. We'll have to stab it in the neck- [ He gestures on his neck, showing the exact spot where one would cut an artery on a human. ]- and do it hard enough to pierce the skin. So, if we're going to be doing that...

[ He reaches inside his jacket and pulls out a hunting knife. He takes it out of its sheath and offers it to Lilly, handle towards her. ]

I figured you could use a good knife of your own.

[ And if she accidentally attempts to stab herself by being over-zealous or some such thing, Gabriel will be using telekinesis to make sure that knife doesn't meet skin. But anything else she wants to try it on is fair game. It's sharp and serrated towards the sheath, perfect for using as a tool. Gabriel also made sure it was as durable as Meadous materials would allow. ]

[fuckingwolverine]

[She stops walking for a moment, taking the knife in both hands, and though she does run her fingers all over it - blade included - she's careful, and doesn't puncture or break any skin. Looking back up at him, she tries to clarify:]

Mine?

[Or is he going to take it back after the hunt?]

[ He hesitates for a moment, trying to decide whether to put conditions on it or not.

Ultimately, he nods at her. She's already showed him that he might not need his telekinetic intervention. ]

Yours. All yours.

[fuckingwolverine]

[She grins, and whisks the knife through the air experimentally before setting off again. Time to go find a pig to stab!]

[ It doesn't take long to get to the spot Gabriel had talked about before. The ground gets increasingly muddy in this bit of forest, and there's a little pond not too far. Gabriel's gotten a lot less chatty, and right now just gives Lilly a quiet 'hey' to get her attention. He gestures at a muddy patch on a nearby tree trunk.

He whispers: ] Boars do this to rub mud on themselves, so one's nearby. Look for prints.

[ As he continues on, he's moving far more quietly, careful not to disturb much of the foliage. ]

[Immediately she drops even lower to the ground, crawling around on her elbows instead of her hands. When she finds prints that look like the ones she and Gabriel had made earlier, she almost shouts with excitement, but then thinks better of it at the last second and clamps her mouth shut. She'll try to get his attention with a sharp hiss instead.]

[ He's been keeping something of an eye on her anyway, and his eyes light up when she ensures she's quiet. Looking at her, he nods and starts carefully making his way over to her.

Silently, he looks around, and points out another track- if it was made after the first one, the boar was headed for the pond. He makes a gesture that way. She can make it through all this brush more quickly than he can, but he'll be close behind. ]

[She's not going at top speed, anyway - she's sneaking now, making as little noise as possible. When she's almost at the brushline, she sees movement, and she stops dead, tracking it with her eyes.]

[ Gabriel stops when she does, seeing the movement a moment after her. From his vantage point, he can see a bit of light blue skin behind the grass. The boar hasn't caught onto them yet- if Gabriel had to guess, it's digging in the mud next to the water.

He leans down and whispers to Lilly. ]

Go on. I'll hold it for you.

[ This is going to be messy, but sometimes the best hunts end that way. ]

[With a sudden burst of speed, Lilly crashes out of the cover of the underbrush and into the pond, bodily throwing herself at the very surprised boar. She's completely fearless here, trusting Gabriel to have her back as she clambers up onto the squealing animal's back and starts to stab haphazardly.]

[ As soon as the boar starts, Gabriel's holding its legs in place with his telekinesis. The result is a loud protesting squeal, as well as a lot of attempted bucking to get the offending attacker off. It's not terribly effective when the poor thing can't raise its legs, but it's trying.

He watches her attempts at stabbing, walking closer. Only after he gets within ten feet does he give her any advice. So far, the boar is oozing blood from a couple spots, but is clearly just a little injured.

He raises his voice, to hopefully be heard over the commotion. ]

Remember that spot I showed you? Under the chin.

[Oh, yeah; good idea. Switching tactics, she scrambles off the animal and zips around it, mindful of its feet (she doesn't know about the telekinesis, after all). Then she ducks under its chin and stabs it in the throat.]

[ Her caution around the feet is appreciated- after all, it's hard to tell when telekinesis is being used or not, much of the time.

The stab in the throat is far more effective than the ones she'd tried in its hide. The boar makes an ungodly noise and Lilly will find herself getting rather generously splattered with blood. Gabriel walks closer as the creature begins to sway. It looks a little odd with the feet frozen in place. ]

Great job, Lilly. Now don't let it fall on you.

[ Not that he suspects she will. It is, however, a warning, because he's going to let it go entirely as it tips to the side. ]

[At which point she triumphantly leaps on top of it, perching on its side and turning to Gabriel with the biggest grin in the world on her blood-soaked face. She sticks her tongue out, swiping it over her upper lip to lick some off.]

[ He wishes he had a camera right now, he really does. The big grin on his face right now, mirroring Lilly's, might give away how proud he is of her. ]

Way to show that pig who's boss.

Yeah.

[She's going to help, but she'll take direction from him.]

[ When it becomes clear she wants to help, he decides not to take the usual method he uses- instead he'll walk up and crouch down to take a good look at the animal.

He shows her the various parts he's going to cut, and then he points and it practically cuts itself. Of course, if she's looking like she wants to try on her own, he'll let her.
After making the big slice down the torso, it's all disgusting work, but he's fairly sure she's not going to mind. And heck, he can get into it, too. There's something satisfying about getting truly messy every so often.

He helps take out the organs, identifying what they are and whether they taste good or yucky. Anything that's good will be set up a few feet in the air, floating as it waits to be taken home. It's not too hard to concentrate on these few items. ]

[She'll look up at the floating organs, but oddly enough, doesn't seem at all shocked or surprised by them. Some people can make things float; no big deal. When they're nearly done with the gutting, she'll even point to them, asking:]

Me? Can-- can you do it to me like that?

[ She takes it so normally that he just continues with his lesson. By the time she asks the question, he's actually a little surprised. He looks sideways, as if someone is going to burst through the trees and lecture him- then he grins. ]

What? Like this?

[ He turns his palm towards the sky and slowly raises it, and Lilly will find herself being tugged up as if in a harness. Her legs and arms are totally free to move. He raises her a couple of feet in the air, just to see how she feels about it. ]
