[She responds by shoving the picture in his face, wild with delight. She knows it was from you, buddy; it was next to your food.]

How! How!

[The picture shows a young blonde girl, maybe eight or nine years old, with long curly hair and glasses. A creature stands behind her, wrapping her up in its long, spindly arms.]

[ Gabriel has luckily had some time to get used to the image of what has to be Mama. He'd been assuming she was something pretty different, but now he knows just how much. If this Mama had been keeping Lilly alive and happy, though, that was all he cared about.

Lilly's excitement tells him he made the right guess on this present. ]

I wished for it. I didn't know if it'd work, but it did. Neat, huh?

[fuckingwolverine]

[She touches the picture, running a pudgy finger down one of Mama's wispy, shadowy tendrils.]

Zephyr?

[termineur]

Yep. Zephyr grants the wishes. I guess they figured out a way to get a picture like this.

[fuckingwolverine]

But not Mama.

[It's still kind of a weird distinction for her. Mama and Victoria came during the rain, after all, and even though she's been told that the rain hadn't been real, it had felt real. The difference between being real and feeling real is a confusing, blurry distinction for a seven-year-old. Under her breath, she murmurs:]

Stupid.

[Immediately afterwards, she clutches the picture tight to her chest. But not this. This isn't stupid; she wants this.]

Yeah, it is.

[ He can't argue that, as he'll never entirely understand why the 'rules' basically say they have to be kept apart. He does have faith that it's not Zephyr's fault, now- that they're doing everything they can to forge connections.

Unfortunately, it's just not the sort of thing you can explain to a kid missing her mom. ]

The picture's good, though, huh?

[fuckingwolverine]

Mmm!

[She's pleased about that, at least. She points the picture towards him again, ready to do a full introduction.]

Victoria.

[She says, stabbing her finger at the image of the older girl.]

She's big. She likes talking.

Well, hello Victoria.

[ He says it with a smile. ]

I'm glad to see her. She is pretty big.

[ Comparatively, at least. ]

[fuckingwolverine]

It's not-- she's not her.

[Lily says, frowning a little; the way Gabriel introduced himself to the picture has her wondering if he might not actually know this.]

This Victoria just looks like real Victoria. Like TV. She can't hear you.

[termineur]

[ Oh, oops. He hadn't thought how that might be confusing for her. He looks a little contrite. ]

Of course. Like the TV, huh? Well, I said hello until I can for real, anyway.

[fuckingwolverine]

Yeah.

[Pause.]

She came. When it rained. Mama, too.

[termineur]

Did she?

[ He's not sure how to feel about that. That wasn't exactly a normal time, and most of those ghosts came with their own sadness. ]

That rain was special. It let us see the ones we missed.

Did you get a chance to play with them?

[fuckingwolverine]

All the time.

[She says vehemently.]

We went away and it was only us. Like-- like before.

[termineur]

[ Gabriel smiles, but it's a little muted. Because of course it had to end. ]

I'm glad you had some time with them. Hopefully we can get them here again, or get you back to them.
